Although most experts believe nuts are good for you, I have noticed that they have a high percentage of fat. Won’t this make it hard for me to lose weight?
Unfortunately, people often isolate one food or food type and debate its merits.
Usually this is a food that the person is fond of and would have trouble giving up. Nuts fit well in this category, but we shouldn’t look at them alone when defining ‘good’ or ‘bad’. We need to look at our diet as a whole – think about a balanced diet with protein, greens, and healthy fats. In this case nuts would be good.
In other cases, perhaps not so much. For example, if someone combine a packet of nuts with a pizza on movie night, then they probably aren’t going to be very healthy.
Essentially, as long as they are part of a balanced diet, eating unsaturated fats like nuts will not make it harder to lose weight because they fill you up quickly. Fats are a part of a well-balanced diet, and nuts provide them in a healthy form.
